Wednesday…

Normally I would go through a day, leave it a couple of days, then if it sticks in the old swede, post it.

Such is the bizarre day I’m currently having, I have to get it all down by dinnertime.

Working Wednesdays are called “Wing it Wednesday,” the mid day of the working week, which invariably means I haven’t done half as much as planned, but managed to do many things that were not planned at all.
I drive into work with things still to be done, floating somewhere around my swede, interrupted by those things which have popped up, been done, but might need some good old British tinkering.
The upshot of it all, Wednesdays became known to myself as, “Wing it Wednesday.”

Just one question… what are Wednesdays to be called when on holiday from work?

Took an unsolicited phone call from the company I use to register web domains this morning.
Seemed a decent enough bloke, “Just a quick call to let you know about some incentives we are running at the mo…”
He then asked about what I use my web domains for?
“What is he? A stalker?” shouted the better half across the room (he was on speaker phone).

“I use them for personal and a kind of business or interest websites”
“What does that entail?” He continued.
“Jesus! He’s nosey isn’t he!” Piped up the better half.
I gave up trying to explain what I use them for and just answered, “Stuff.”
Bearing in mind, that the last web domain I bought and registered with his company is this one (pissinginthewind.co.uk) I don’t think he’d really thought his approach through.

He waffled on, desperately looking for an open door to try and convince me to part with more money, (times must be hard?) and failed miserably.
I ended the call with the blanket statement, “Since the war in Ukraine, your web domain prices have gone up. Strange that, as I didn’t realise that Ukraine’s plight at the hands of a foreign invader, had created a shortage of web domains?”
With that he totally gave up.
I hope he wasn’t being listened to as part of a training or employment exercise. If so, he didn’t say, “Goodbye” and put the phone down rather sharpish.

Best one of the week so far came a few minutes ago.
I was wondering why basic wordpress websites always take a few seconds to load up in my browser?
I’ve used different browsers, such as safari, brave, etc. but always there’s around a five to ten second delay.
I made the mistake (as I often do) of searching for a solution…

Searching online for a solution, invariably ends up with clickbait websites of the kind that state, “7 ways to solve [insert any issue here]” then spout all the obvious things to do, that anyone with half a brain has already attempted.
Still, this allows them to feed pointless advertisements to your browser, which if accidentally clicked upon, leave a 30 day cookie, so that anything bought via your device in that time, credits them a small payment.

One such website I clicked, about eight places down the list, just in the despondent hopes that it would throw up something I hadn’t yet attempted.
I never read any of the suggestions though, as it took longer than my wordpress websites to load in the browser and when it finally appeared, I scrolled down to the footer and lo and behold, it was powered by wordpress!
Taxi!
